Melbourne: Mobil Oil Australia Pty Ltd ("Mobil") is pleased to announce the launch of the new Mobil Super Family of engine oils.
Mobil has a history of being innovative and keeping pace with the ever evolving motoring industry, so their latest new product launch comes as no surprise.
Mobil's popular engine oil product lines are being reconfigured and updated as the Mobil Super Family, designed to more easily clarify their performance and recommended applications. This represents the most significant change to Mobil’s entire engine oil product line since the early nineties.
"Our product specifications have been updated to reflect the needs of today’s market,” says Mobil’s Senior Marketer and Media Manager, Peter Westcott.
“There’s a clear hierarchy of product performance and each product’s attributes are clearly and concisely presented. We’ve also looked at the different needs of the installed market versus retail consumers and tailored a range of engine oils to satisfy the needs of each market segment.”
The performance and environmental demands on engine oils from car manufacturers and consumers alike are becoming more intense, driving the need for significant changes to individual oil product specifications.
“We needed to update our product line for a number of reasons,” says Mr.Westcott. “Car manufacturers are demanding engine oils that need to work a lot harder for much longer in their modern, high tech engines. Pressure on exhaust emissions and fuel economy and other environmental regulations demand that clean, efficient engine oils work effectively with improved emission control systems and allow engines to operate efficiently.”
Mobil says the new product line offers a range of benefits:
- Better protection for longer: the new line offers an incredible 75% improvement in resistance to oil breakdown and thickening over previously available SL oils in the tough Australian environment.
- Reduction of engine wear: up to 25% greater protection against wear in critical engine components when compared to SL oils.
- Double the fuel savings: New Mobil Super 2000 5W-30 delivers twice the fuel savings achieved with the previous equivalent Mobil oil when compared with the industry standard 10W-30 GF-3 oil used for fuel economy tests.
The new Mobil Super Family range of products is being launched on April 14th. Customers will notice simplified product names and new labelling and point of sale material to help guide them through the change-over.

Mobil 1
- Containing patented SuperSyn anti-wear technology Mobil 1 remains the company’s supreme fully synthetic motor oil.
- Mobil 1 continues to provide the most advanced protection and performance under extreme conditions.
Mobil Super 3000
- Synthetic motor oil that provides a superiorperformance under an extensive range of driving conditions.
- Offers protection beyond that of conventional or semi-synthetic oil.
Mobil Super 2000
- Semi-synthetic motor oil engineered to provide very high performance under a wide range of conditions.
- Recommended for drivers who occasionally experience demanding driving conditions.
- Mobil Super 2000 5W-30 is specifically formulated for improved fuel efficiency.
Mobil Super 1000
- A conventional motor oil designed to provide a high level of performance and protection under most conditions.
- Recommended for daily driving under normal conditions.
Mobil Formula Family
To complement the Mobil Super Family range Mobil is also launching the new Mobil Formula Family in a package specifically tailored for the workshop trade.
