  • Mobil has increased fuel storage capacity at Birkenhead (Adelaide) terminal with completion of new 9 million litre diesel tank
  • New tank continues Mobil’s investment in supplying quality fuels to South Australia
  • Birkenhead maintains leading position as the largest volume petrol, diesel and jet fuel terminal in the state

ExxonMobil Australia Pty Ltd subsidiary Mobil Oil Australia Pty Ltd (“Mobil”) has completed the construction and commissioning of a new 9 million litre diesel fuel tank at the Mobil/Shell jointly owned Birkenhead fuel terminal in Adelaide.

The Birkenhead terminal is operated by Mobil on behalf of joint owners Mobil and Shell and occupies 15 hectares of land between Victoria Road and Elder Road, Port Adelaide.  Mobil has been making significant investments at the terminal in recent years to ensure that it can continue to operate reliably and in an environmentally responsible manner well into the future.

Mobil's facility at Birkenhead is one of three key fuel distribution terminals operated by Mobil in south eastern Australia and is a principal point of supply into South Australia.  Mobil Birkenhead currently handles the greatest annual volume of petrol, diesel and aviation fuels of any terminal in South Australia and the new tank has increased the overall storage capacity of the terminal.

Mobil Birkenhead has extensive road and rail loading facilities which support the distribution of products throughout Adelaide and South Australia, and into areas of NSW and central Australia.

This new tank adds to Mobil’s investment of more than $20 million in its Australian fuel terminal infrastructure since 2008.
