Altona Careers Fair

A two-week virtual Careers Fair highlighted the valuable skillset and talents of Altona refinery’s people

From October 11 – 22, Mobil held a virtual Careers Fair for members of the Altona Refinery team who have been impacted by the refinery’s conversion to an import terminal.

Over two weeks, a total of 21 sessions showcased an array of available positions and industries looking to employ people with the skills and talents held by many of the Altona team.

Participants were from a variety of businesses including government departments and recruitment agencies, labour hire groups and major companies including Visy, Viva Energy, Jemena and Metro Trains, all eager to share opportunities and receive applications from our skilled workforce.

“Transitioning a refinery to a fuel terminal is a complex task. I truly appreciate the commitment and hard work from everyone involved in planning for and then shutting down the Altona refinery operations, as well as supporting our transition to terminal operations over the course of this year,” said Clinton Gentle, Terminal Conversion Venture Executive.

“Feedback from the companies participating in the Careers Fair was that there is great demand for workers with the skills, experience and knowledge of the Altona refinery team.”

“The one thing that made Altona refinery a special place to work was the quality of our people. I am confident all those who leave the refinery will go on to make positive and meaningful contributions to any workforce they may join in the future,” said Clinton.

“I hope the Careers Fair has given everyone some inspiration about the possible opportunities for the future.”
