The local community had identified the need for community facilities at the Tyabb Central Reserve and the Somerville Tyabb Rotary Club took up the challenge to put in a BBQ complete with shelter and picnic tables for local families to enjoy.
The event attracted a great turn out with the Honourable Greg Hunt MP, Federal Member for Flinders and Federal Minister for Environment, having the honour of cooking the first sausage on the new BBQ. The Minister was joined by Cr. Graham Pittock, Mayor of Mornington Peninsula Shire Council, Chris Such, President of the Somerville Tyabb Rotary Club and Kim Hahn, Esso Long Island Point Plant Manager.
Esso and BHP Billiton are proud to support this important community project which will help to further enhance Tyabb Central Reserve as a social hub for the community, creating an environment where families and children can come together and enjoy the park, and now share a hot meal.
The event also marked the 30th anniversary of the formation of the Somerville Tyabb Rotary Club and we congratulate the club on reaching this milestone. A fantastic achievement and testament to the good work that has been done, and will continue hopefully for decades to come.
