Esso puts its ‘principals’ on display
Principal for a Day is delivered by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) in partnership with the Victorian Department of Education and Training (through the Bastow Institute of Educational Leadership). The program invites business and community leaders to shadow a school principal for a day.
David Anderson, who was participating in the program for the third time, said the Principal for a Day program was successful in its aim to increase understanding, awareness and partnerships between schools, businesses and the community by providing leaders with current experiences of local schools.
“In Gippsland, our community relations program places great emphasis on supporting and engaging with the local school community, so I really value the opportunity to meet and work with students and staff first-hand,” he said.
David McCord was participating for the first time in his new role as LIP Plant Manager and welcomed the chance to promote the importance of education, particularly around maths and science, to local students.
“We are proud to contribute to local schools, including Western Port Secondary College, providing grants for maths and science programs. Participating in the Principal for a Day program builds on these initiatives in a tangible and hands-on way,” he said.
