Esso Australia helps spread Christmas joy across Sale

The Christmas Toy Run, a Sale-based initiative, was established by the local Red Knights Motorcycle Club in 1997 to give toys, non-perishable food, kids clothes, gift cards or cash donations to disadvantaged children within the region for Christmas.

Held on Saturday 11 December, the Red Knights commenced their annual ride at 9am from the Sale clock tower, roaring through Maffra and arriving at the Men’s Shed where more local bikers joined the group. The crew then made the journey back to Sale clock tower, gathering to draw raffle ticket winners and present the donated goods to the local Salvation Army and St Vinnies teams. They then distribute the gifts directly to the Wellington Shire families in need.

This year Esso Australia’s donated funds of $5,000 went towards purchasing toys for the children.

Longford Plant Maintenance Superintendent Andrew Williamson was granted the opportunity to say a few words on Esso’s behalf and helped draw the raffle.

“It’s wonderful to be able to support the Red Knights Christmas Toy Run again this year, and see the positive impact Esso can have in donating to those in need at Christmas,” he said.

“Currently celebrating its 24th year, this annual event demonstrates the generosity that the Red Knights have for their community.  Their passion for the cause is evident for all involved as they enter Sale’s main street in procession on their cherished motorcycles each year!”
