Esso Australia operations continue to create Gippsland jobs

Esso Australia has a strong history of supporting the local economy, making a significant contribution to employment across the Gippsland region by providing hundreds of jobs in the community since 1964.

Apprentice and trainee opportunities are provided across the Victorian operations, with 20 apprentices currently working at the Esso Longford Plant. Apprentices receive industry leading training and support, working in a stimulating and challenging work environment with the latest cutting-edge technology. 

The latest new hires include Kayleb Giblet and Brendan Anthonisen, two 18-year olds who have grown up in the Sale region and are now embarking on a four-year mechanical fitter and turner apprenticeship.

 “I’m eager to embrace this amazing opportunity and receive guidance from experienced workers who are veterans in their field,” said Kayleb Giblet, Esso Australia mechanical fitter and turner apprentice. 

“It’s really exciting to gain new experiences using best-in-class technology through an engaging development program,” he continued.

“Apprentices and trainees play a pivotal role in supporting Longford Plants operations as we deliver Gippsland gas across Australia. The program allows us to develop and upskill individuals within our community, and equally allows the individuals to contribute directly in supporting our operations,” said Kartik Garg, Longford Asset Manager.

“A number of our existing full-time employees began their longstanding tenures as apprentices, and we look forward to working with these new starters as they grow professionally at Esso Australia.”

A new recruitment campaign will start shortly, as the Esso Australia team seeks two additional mechanical fitter and turner apprentices and two electrical/instrumentation (dual-trade) apprentices due to start in January 2022.
