Innovation a focus for Altona Refinery
The annual event provides suppliers with the opportunity to showcase the latest tools, technology and equipment available, all which can help to increase the safety and efficiency of maintenance activities at the refinery.
Altona Refinery Maintenance, Reliability and Engineering Manager Andrew Williamson said that Altona Refinery was continually looking at ways to innovate and make improvements to its operations.
“We place the highest priority on operating flawlessly in all aspects of our business. This event is a fantastic opportunity for our team to review how the latest advances in tool and equipment technology can help to make our business safer and more efficient.
“In addition, the trade day really does highlight the number and variety of businesses and suppliers regularly engaged by our refinery, many of them local to Melbourne’s west,” he said.
Mr Williamson said finding opportunities to improve our business is the way Altona Refinery can continue to be competitive and efficient.
“Investment in technology saw us increase the refining capacity of Altona Refinery in 2017 from 80,000 to 90,000 barrels of refined fuel products per day,” he said.
“Over the past five years, we have invested more than $400 million in improving the safety, reliability and capability of our operations at in Melbourne’s west so that we can continue to be a reliable supplier of choice for locally-refined, high-quality fuels to Victoria well into the future,” he said.
