ExxonMobil has robust security measures in place to protect our personnel, facilities and operations around the world. We continue to integrate security expectations into our Operations Integrity Management System, which systematically embeds security into our daily operations.

Workplace security

ExxonMobil regularly assesses potential threats to our operations, including cybersecurity and operational threats. To address potential operational threats, all new facilities go through a security analysis that takes into account geographic location, relationships with communities and compliance with applicable laws. Our security personnel commonly participate in security-related drills, training and industry forums to enhance our established risk management methodologies, threat-assessment capabilities and technical security management.

When designing our approach to security, we take into account the unique characteristics of a facility. In higher-risk locations, we monitor local conditions and maintain detailed security preparedness plans, such as evacuation and intruder response plans. Performance and initiatives

Recent international and domestic security events have resulted in a heightened threat to personnel in areas previously thought to pose limited risk. In response, ExxonMobil has implemented a program called Travel Tracker that uses travel itineraries to locate and communicate with travelers through email and text message notifications. This system enables us to notify travelers of significant events such as security threats and natural disasters and to provide safety instructions as appropriate.

As cybersecurity risks continue to evolve, we must protect our business against the growing risk of attack, which can potentially affect our data, facilities and operations. In 2017, all our employees and contractors completed web-based cybersecurity training to identify and respond to potential cybersecurity risks and to reinforce safe behaviors.
