Australian gas helping to grow essential food crops

MELBOURNE, Australia - Mobil Australia Resources Company Pty Ltd, (a subsidiary of ExxonMobil Australia Pty Ltd, ‘ExxonMobil Australia’), has entered a gas sales agreement with Yara Pilbara Fertilisers Pty Ltd (Yara Pilbara), one of the world’s largest suppliers of ammonia, a vital raw ingredient in fertiliser.

ExxonMobil Australia Chair, Dylan Pugh, said the company continued to develop competitive supply agreements that meet the needs of a range of Australian businesses including some of the country’s largest manufacturers.

“ExxonMobil Australia continues to invest delivering reliable and affordable gas to Australian homes and businesses, supporting local jobs and the Australian economy,” said Mr Pugh.

“In addition to heating our homes and producing electricity, natural gas is a vital feedstock for the manufacture of countless products that support our way of life,” he continued

“For example, the ammonia made by Yara Pilbara Fertilisers using our natural gas will be used to create fertiliser that will help grow essential food crops in Australia and around the world.”

Ammonia produced at the Yara Pilbara plant near Karratha in Western Australia is distributed to the Australian domestic market as well as exported into Korea, Indonesia and other South East Asian markets.
