Excellence celebrated at student awards

The awards, open to all penultimate year Masters of Engineering students across all disciplines at The University of Melbourne, seek to recognise well rounded applicants with consistent academic results, wide extracurricular involvement and demonstrated leadership and teamwork experience.

The 2018 awardees were Molly Livingstone, studying a Master of Chemical Engineering with Business, Thomas Strawhorn, studying a Master of Civil Engineering with Business and Shiyaam Sharabinth studying a Master of Mechanical Engineering with Business. They were awarded a $3,000 scholarship and also have the potential to gain a position in the upcoming 2018/2019 ExxonMobil Australia Vacation Student program.

Graduate Recruitment Lead Charles Doube said that ExxonMobil Australia’s partnerships with Australian universities remain a critical component of the company’s strong vacation student and graduate recruitment programs.

“These awards are a fantastic initiative by our local organisation to recognise and advance engineering talent in Australia. These students underwent a vigorous application and interview process and the qualities that they display are those most valued by our global business.

“We give more than $32,000 annually to university awards across Victoria, South Australia and New South Wales and remain committed to supporting science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education via our support of university awards and broader community contributions program,” he said.
