Scheduled maintenance works at Long Island Point

Esso will be conducting a test of the Long Island Point plant emergency shutdown systems on 23 January 2018.

The test will cause black smoke from our high pressure flares and burn pit for approximately an hour from 10am. This test will be rescheduled in the event of a total fire ban day.

There will be an increase in flaring and black smoke may be visible throughout the course of this important test, which is a standard part of this maintenance process and is not a cause for concern.

This work is a key part of our scheduled maintenance program, which helps Esso prevent unplanned incidents or disruptions to the plant’s operations.

While we have carefully planned this work to avoid or minimise any potential impacts to our neighbours, please call (03) 5979 0137 should you have any questions or concerns.
