Mobil lead country manager Andrew McNaught said that, although it does not directly operate the convenience retail component at its service stations, Mobil was committed to phasing out the sale of cage eggs at all Mobil-owned service stations.
“Mobil works incredibly hard to provide our customers with a range of high quality products,” says Mr McNaught. “They have made it clear to us that they no longer want to purchase cage eggs, and we support their efforts to phase out the sale of these eggs in New Zealand.”
Mobil will be working closely with its Mobil-owned service station operators to assist them to make the transition.
Mobil is taking a number of steps to strengthen its sustainable business practices, including introducing compostable coffee cups and lids at all Mobil-owned service stations.
Mobil is also trialling locally roasted Piazza d’Oro coffee beans for barista-made coffee. Piazza d’Oro utilises the Walk with the Grower programme to ensure growers receive an adequate return for their product, as well as encouraging sustainable and responsible business practices.
In the last five years, Mobil has donated over $600,000 to local charities, schools and community groups.
