Esso injects over $80,000 into maths and science programs at local schools

Through the 2017 Gippsland Bright Future Grants program, 23 schools located near Esso’s operations in Longford, Hastings and Barry Beach, have each received grants of up to $4,000 for maths and science resources and projects.
  • In 2017, Esso Australia has provided over $80,000 to enhance science and maths education at 23 local schools across Gippsland, South Gippsland and the Mornington Peninsula
  • The introduction of the Gippsland Bright Future Grants program is another example of the significant investment Esso has made in the communities close to our operation.

“With a strong focus on science and technology, Esso is dedicated to ensuring local children have access to educational resources that increase their competency and interest in the areas of maths and science,” said David Anderson, Longford Plants Manager.

“From medicine to energy development to computing and engineering, these are critical roles that require a highly skilled workforce and we’re happy to be providing regional students with the opportunity to have the latest technology in the classroom.”

The grants will enable local primary and secondary schools to boost their maths and science programs and resources; from purchasing new technology such as iPads, the latest programming, coding and robotics kits, to funding laboratory equipment, teaching resources and hosting science fairs where a number of local schools will benefit from the grants.

Esso has been investing in the local Gippsland community since our operations commenced nearly 50 years ago.  The introduction of the Gippsland Bright Future Grants program is another example of the significant investment the company has made in the communities close to our operations.

The Gippsland Bright Future Grants program is being funded by the Gippsland Basin Joint Venture, in which Esso Australia Resources Pty Ltd and BHP Billiton Petroleum (Bass Strait) Pty Ltd each have a 50 percent interest.
