Raising awareness of pharmaceutical misuse

Many of our local contributions initiatives aim to ensure that our business makes a positive contribution to the health and safety of the wider community.

With this goal in mind, ExxonMobil Australia has supported the Alcohol and Drug Foundation to produce a series of resources aimed at highlighting issues surrounding pharmaceutical misuse.

“While pharmaceutical medications provide many benefits, and many of us use these drugs appropriately, the misuse of pharmaceuticals – in particular opioids, including codeine, and benzodiazepines – is increasing,” said Occupational Health Manager Dr. Marcus Hirschfield.

Public and Government Affairs Manager Andrew Murphy said that contributing to important health and safety initiatives such as this remains a priority for the local business.

“In 2018, our community contributions program will continue to focus on initiatives that have wide benefits to the community in terms of health and safety, education and the environment,” he said.
