Gippsland Basin Joint Venture supports high-tech local education

Students in the Wellington Shire area now have access to new flexible online learning opportunities with the successful roll-out of EduCloud.

Developed with financial support from the Gippsland Basin Joint Venture, EduCloud is a high-speed private Wi-Fi service connecting students and teachers to their local school network and learning resources. The platform also enables students and teachers to connect and collaborate across different schools.

Access to EduCloud was made available to schools from the new Port of Sale Wellington Centre in May 2018, with a view to connecting all Wellington Shire libraries to the service by the end of the year.

External recognition of the project has seen EduCloud win the Municipal Association of Victoria’s Technology Award for Excellence and the Collaboration of Partnership of the Year award.

Longford Plants Manager David Anderson said the team is proud to support an award-winning initiative that is making a difference in the region.

“Flexibility, technology and communication are key foundations of our work at Longford which is why we were so pleased to get behind and education initiative that facilitates these exact elements for local students.

“Education resources have come a long way since I was studying at Longford Primary School decades ago. I hope local students of today take full advantage of this award winning service so they can follow their professional dreams,” he said.
