Working hard for mothers and babies

This wonderful organisation coordinates with other groups in the community to rehome pre-loved nursery goods to support Victorian families in need.

“They collect, sort and redistribute essential nursery equipment such as prams, car seats, cots, change tables, clothing, books and toys for mothers and babies in need, including refugees and women escaping domestic violence” said ExxonMobil Australia General Counsel Monica Edgar.

“Their vision is a future where we waste less, share more and care for every baby and child.”

The Law group lent a hand at all sorts of activities including cleaning prams and cots, sorting clothes and preparing bottle packs.

Many baby bottles donated, while still usable, cannot be used again by St Kilda Mums. So these were collected for animal shelters to feed orphaned animals.

After their day’s work, Sally Moon from the Law team was able to send a bag of bottles to the Joey and Bat Sanctuary (JABS) that cared for Riggs, the Grey-headed Flying-fox that was rescued from Esso’s Kingfish B platform in Bass Strait last year.

Programs such as the annual Volunteer Involvement Program (VIP), which allows employees to nominate the charity with which they volunteer to receive a $1,000 grant, Day of Caring group volunteering days at operational sites, as well as the recently introduced volunteer leave for staff at the Docklands office, all demonstrate the commitment and emphasis the organisation places on giving back to the community.

The introduction of volunteer leave gives employees the flexibility to volunteer one day per year, either as a group or individually, at a charity of their choice and at a time which suits them.
