The Barber of Seville comes to Sale

Esso Australia has again supported Opera Australia to bring its schools tour to Gippsland, hosting its children’s production of The Barber of Seville at The Wedge Performing Arts Centre in July.

The schools tour builds on the company’s broader sponsorship of Opera Australia which also includes the ‘Esso Night at the Opera’ hosted by Esso Australia in Sale on a biennial basis. The production of The Barber of Seville was attended by primary school age children from Sale and the surrounding area over two free performances.

Longford Plants Manager David Anderson said it was a privilege to work with the Wellington Shire and Opera Australia to bring together this experience for local students.

“This year, Esso Australia is celebrating the 50th anniversary of production from our Gippsland Basin Joint Venture operations providing energy for homes and businesses up and down Australia’s east coast. Aside from our day job, we have always strived to improve the quality of life in our community.

“As a result for half a century the wider community has benefited through significant contributions in support of schools, emergency services, hospitals and a wide range of community groups.

“As part of this community contribution, we have long been working with Opera Australia to bring the very best in music to a wider audience. Support for the arts remains an important part of our local footprint here in Gippsland,” he said.
