Esso Australia supports Conservation Volunteers Australia bushfire relief efforts

For more than a quarter of a century, Esso Australia has supported Conservation Volunteers Australia to deliver a range of environmental initiatives focused in areas close to our operations in Gippsland and Melbourne’s West.

Earlier this year, Conservation Volunteers Australia were appointed by the Australian government to coordinate the national environmental volunteering response to the bushfire crisis.

Restoring the environment following this national crisis will require a sustained and long-term response. This year, our support to Conservation Volunteers Australia will focus on assisting their bushfire recovery efforts through our community contributions and employee volunteering programs.

In addition to providing funding and employee volunteers to Conservation Volunteers Australia, we recently gifted them some personal protective clothing from our Longford Gas Plants. This clothing will help their volunteers stay warm and dry while they carry out important environmental rehabilitation activities.

Longford Plants Manager, Kartik Garg, said the Longford team were proud to be lending a hand to Conservation Volunteers.

“Many of our team not only work, but also live in the Gippsland region, and have experienced first-hand some of the challenges and impacts that the recent fires presented many Australians,” said Kartik.

“When the opportunity to donate some of our surplus safety clothing arose, Conservation Volunteers and their bushfire relief efforts immediately sprung to mind as a very worthy recipient.

“In addition to providing them with financial support, I am really glad we could help out in a practical way by providing clothing that will help protect their community volunteers as they carry out important rehabilitation work in the region.”

ExxonMobil Australia has been a long-time supporter of Conservation Volunteers Australia, having partnered with them since 1992.
