Long Island Point update December 2020

Update from David McCord, Long Island Point Manager
At Long Island Point, we understand that our success over the last 50 years is in a large part due to the support we have received from our local community.

This year, just as we’ve had to adjust our operations to ensure we can maintain the flow of essential energy to our customers in a COVID-safe way, we’ve also had to adjust our community engagement program to ensure that we’re providing support where it’s most needed as well as finding alternative ways to stay in touch with our neighbours.

That’s why I was so glad when, earlier this month, we were able to hold a virtual community meeting in place of the community dinner we usually hold each year.

During the event we shared information and updates about our operations and our contribution to the local area, and answered any questions that community members may have had about our business.

Our team have also been busy helping out some of our neighbours whose way of life has been impacted by COVID19 restrictions. One of the ways we’ve been helping is by donating food and other goods to Western Port Community Support, who are delivering food parcels, food vouchers, cooked meals and material aid to anyone who is vulnerable, isolated or experiencing hardship.

I wish you all the best for the holiday season and hope that the easing of COVID19 restrictions means you get the chance to spend valuable time with family or friends. If you would like more information about our operations or our community initiatives please feel free to drop me a line at communityANZ@exxonmobil.com.
