Recognising the work of volunteers

Team members from across our business have joined in the National Volunteering Week campaign, waving a special smile of appreciation to volunteers across Australia.

ExxonMobil Australia Chairman, Nathan Fay, said this year’s National Volunteering Week theme “Changing Communities, Changing Lives” highlights just how precious every single volunteer is, because each act of volunteering can have a profound impact on somebody’s life.

“Recognising the valuable and positive role of volunteers, ExxonMobil Australia has long-supported the work of volunteers in communities close to our operating sites, including Gippsland and Melbourne’s West, through our community contributions program,” said Nathan.

“For more than a quarter of a century, we have supported Conservation Volunteers Australia, who are facing a significant challenge to rehabilitate areas affected by the bushfires earlier this year.

“This year, we have also supported Foodbank Victoria, whose volunteers are busy responding to the dramatic increase in the number of people requiring food relief assistance, as a result of the various measures that have been put in place in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.”

In addition, ExxonMobil Australia regularly supports local community centres in areas close to our operations, often providing funding to assist with the purchase of new resources or equipment to help volunteers in these centres run important community programs.

“We also encourage employee volunteering by giving employees the flexibility to apply for volunteering leave each year,” said Nathan.
