Earlier this month, 13 members of our Longford Gas Plant, Bass Strait offshore operations and Sale office teams volunteered at Foodbank Victoria’s Farm to Families pop-up market, providing much-needed fresh produce to those struggling in Sale and the surrounding communities.

The sun shone throughout the day, as over 160 community members invited by Foodbank Victoria’s designated charity partners, collected fresh fruit vegetables along with pantry staples. A further 40 families received food the following day from pick-up points across the region.

“The Gippsland region has experienced an array of unprecedented events over the last three years. From bushfires, to COVID-19 restrictions, and destructive storms, the community has suffered silently with little opportunity for reprieve,” said James Buckingham, Offshore Producing Assets Manager and Sale local.

“We’re grateful for this opportunity to be able to give back to those who are in need within our community, and help ensure they have access to basic food essentials,” he continued.

“The market was a great success, with 3,371 kilos of fresh produce and pantry staples distributed throughout the day,” said Danielle Johnson, Foodbank Victoria Corporate Partnerships Officer.

“This was an incredible result, and it’s great to have the support from companies like Esso to help us give back to those in need within regional communities,” she continued. “We couldn’t do what we do without their donated time and support.”
