ExxonMobil Australia has been hosting fundraiser morning tea events once a month in an effort to encourage employees to come into the office and reconnect with colleagues more frequently.

Each month a different cause is chosen as the focus of the morning tea and then staff raise money for the charity associated with the cause. It’s a fun way to give back to the community and make a difference.

April was Autism Awareness month so the company’s Employee Resource Group ABLE (A Better Life for Everyone), which aims to support disabilities and differences, selected the “Hoodie Up for Autism Awareness” initiative by a group called Amaze.

Staff were asked to come into the office wearing a hoodie or something blue (the colour that represents autism), enjoy a delicious morning tea and donate to the cause.

Renee Ellul, Chair of ABLE, said, “I’m proud to announce that staff members raised $515 for the charity and this was supplemented by an additional donation of $1000 from the Public and Government Affairs department.”

“It’s wonderful to see so much participation from staff to enable us to contribute to a very worthy cause.”

The next morning tea event will be Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea which supports the Cancer Council.
