Vaccination challenge delivers funds to community groups

Across our operations, almost 200 people in the ExxonMobil Australia team participated in our #AusVaxChallenge, helping to direct a portion of $10,000 of community contribution funding to their chosen community group while doing our bit to keep Australia COVID safe.
As part of the challenge, anyone who received or booked in to receive their COVID19 vaccine by 16 July was invited to vote for which charity they would like to see receive a portion of the available $10,000.
Based on the votes, we will deliver funding to the community groups outlined below, with Cancer Council Victoria receiving the largest portion of funding based on 50% of the votes:
Cancer Council Victoria - $5000
Sale Ambulance Auxiliaries - $2000
Western Port Community Support - $1,500
Williamstown Community and Education Centre - $1,000
Lakes Entrance Neighbourhood House - $500
Todd Harper, CEO Cancer Council Victoria reached out to personally to thank ExxonMobil and our wonderful staff for this support.
“We are grateful that we can extend our important cancer research, prevention and support initiatives thanks to your generosity,” said Todd.
“The last year has been a really difficult time for families affected by cancer, so your generosity is very timely.”
Dr Marcus Hirschfield, Manager of Medicine and Occupational Health thanked everyone who participated in our vaccination challenge and helped us to direct our community funding to these groups.
“I understand that challenges obtaining vaccine appointments mean many of our workforce may have been unable to participate in the challenge at this time,” said Marcus.
“But I encourage everyone who is eligible for the vaccine to please be persistent and keep trying to book in that vaccination appointment.
“By getting vaccinated, we’re not only helping to keep Australia COVID-safe, but we’re helping to keep our operations free of COVID19 so that we can confidently continue our work supplying our essential energy to Australia.”
