First Long Range Vessel safely delivers diesel to Altona terminal

The recently converted terminal hits a major milestone

Last month, the Altona terminal team safely received their first diesel delivery on a Long Range Vessel via Gellibrand wharf. From there, the diesel was transferred successfully to the new product tank farm at the recently converted Altona terminal.

“We’re truly excited to reach this tremendous milestone,” said Catherine O’Donnell, Terminal Transition Manager.

Gellibrand is the only deep-water fuels berth in Melbourne, meaning it is the only wharf in Melbourne that can accept deliveries on Long Range Vessels.

“Achieving our first safe delivery from a Long-Range Vessel means we can now unlock a significant competitive advantage through lower freight and single grade sourcing costs.

“It also supports our commitment to maintaining our reliable supply of quality Mobil fuels to our customers,” Catherine continued.

Since the shutdown of Altona refinery’s operations six months ago, Mobil’s integrated Melbourne supply chain has demonstrated strong and consistent supplies to our customers.

“I’d like to congratulate and thank everyone who has been involved in helping us achieve this important milestone,” said Catherine.
