Connection April 2022

Welcome to the April 2022 edition of Connection

ExxonMobil Australia continues to invest in delivering reliable and affordable Gippsland gas to Australian homes and businesses, supporting local jobs and the Australian economy.

On 17 March, we announced that we have made a final investment decision to develop additional gas from the Gippsland Basin Kipper field, helping secure much needed supply for the Australian domestic market. Investments in gas today will play a key role in Australia’s transition to a net-zero emissions future, as outlined in our speech at the 2022 Australian Domestic Gas Outlook conference.

As we work to deliver more gas to the Australian market, we are actively identifying options to decarbonise Gippsland gas by improving the efficiency of our operations as well as identifying alternative uses for our emissions.

Decarbonising Gippsland gas presents opportunities for the Gippsland region to maintain its role as one of Australia’s significant energy hubs, and last month we announced the construction of a new Air Liquide facility that will capture and reuse CO2 extracted from Gippsland gas.

With these exciting developments, we’re also focused on investing in our future workforce. In this edition of Connection, you can read about the eight young people who recently joined our team to participate in our award-winning apprenticeships program, run in conjunction with WPC Group.

We hope you enjoy reading this edition of Connection.
