  • In 2017, Mobil’s Altona Refinery and Yarraville Terminal have provided almost $90,000 to enhance science and maths education at 31 local schools and kindergartens.
  • Mobil has contributed nearly $700,000 to local schools and kinders since its annual Bright Future Grants program began in 2009.Through the 2017 Bright Future Grants program, 31 schools and kindergartens near the Mobil Altona Refinery and the Mobil Yarraville Terminal have each received grants of up to $4,000 for maths and science resources and projects.

“Scientists and engineers are critical for addressing the challenges of 21st century life. That’s why we invest in education programs that focus on inspiring kids to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics,” said Riccardo Cavallo, Altona Refinery Manager.

“From medicine to energy development to computing and engineering, we are supporting the development of a passionate and highly skilled workforce that will help solve problems and create new opportunities into the future.”

The grants will enable local kindergartens, primary and secondary schools to bolster their maths and science programs; from purchasing new technology such as iPads and robotics kits, to funding science equipment, 3D pens to transform 2D drawings in to 3D models and environmental projects such as an interactive garden zone.

Mobil has a long history of supporting local schools and kindergartens. Since the Bright Future Grants program began in 2009, Mobil has provided almost $700,000 to local schools and kindergartens to support maths and science education.
