Surf club support a life saver

ExxonMobil (‘Mobil’) has continued its support for the Mid Coast Surf Life Saving Group in 2018, assisting with the purchase of new motors for their Inflatable Rescue Boats (IRB).

The Onkaparinga Council area where the former Adelaide Refinery is located currently has five surf life saving clubs that service the community - Aldinga Bay, Christies Beach, Moana, Port Noarlunga and South Port. The clubs provide community safety services and actively patrol the surf coast area from October through to April each summer season, as well as responding to emergencies in the community throughout the full calendar year.

Treasurer of the Mid Coast Surf Life Saving Group, Keith Holman, said the task of replacing the inflatable rescue boat motor for each of the five clubs on a rotating annual basis has assisted in making these beaches some of the safest in South Australia.

“With the assistance of Mobil, clubs have carried out their community work to the highest standard, responding to many water emergencies,” he said.

Asia Pacific Commercial Advisor Mark Davey said he was proud of the long-term support the refinery has provided to the Mid Coast Surf Life Saving Group.

“We have had a long association with the Mid Coast Surf Life Saving Group with regular contributions over many years, and the benefits to community health and safety as a result of this support are tangible,” he said.
