Donations provide much-needed funds to advance child health outcomes

The generosity of our workforce has again been on full display, with more than $23,000 given to The Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne as a result of staff donations made towards surplus items from the Southbank office.

In recognition of the support, the hospital offered ExxonMobil Australia staff the opportunity to have a say as to where the funds were used. Staff who contributed toward the sizable donation voted for the funds to be used for the hospital’s Chronic Illness Support Program (ChIPS), a peer support and youth participation program for young people aged 12-25 with a primary diagnosis of a chronic illness.

A group of ExxonMobil Australia representatives, including Business Services Manager Craig Hardgrove, as well as staff involved in facilitating the asset release and staff who made a donation, visited The Royal Children’s Hospital in September to see the results of the staff donation in person.

Many of the staff who made a donation to the hospital during the asset release process have a personal connection to the hospital.

“Since her birth, my daughter continues to be seen several times a year by the Allergy & Immunology clinic at The Royal Children’s Hospital. At each consult, we are amazed by the professionalism, care, warmth and dedication of all the hospital staff,” said ExxonMobil Australia Production Engineer Ben.

Giovina Cicchitti from The Royal Children's Hospital Foundation thanked ExxonMobil staff for their contribution.

“These funds will help to advance paediatric healthcare at the hospital and ensure sick children and their families receive the best care,” she said.

ExxonMobil Australia Chairman Richard Owen said the move to the Docklands office ensured charitable giving was a focus for the entire organisation.

“In addition to the generosity of our workforce during the staff auction program, our business also donated an extensive collection of original Australian artworks to the Gippsland Art Gallery in Sale, as well as giving a variety of ‘retired’ items from Southbank new homes in the community.

“This generous donation to The Royal Children’s Hospital is something the ExxonMobil Australia workforce can all be very proud of,” he said.
