While Mobil has completed a range of projects at Altona Refinery and Yarraville Terminal, boosting our ability to meet the growing demand for transportation fuels in Australia, the team has been equally active in supporting local community institutions and initiatives. This has included providing more than 20 schools located in the area with educational grants as part of Mobil’s Bright Future Grants program.
Altona Refinery Manager Riccardo Cavallo said Mobil is passionate about promoting STEM education in the community.
“Through these activities, we hope that young people in the area will share our passion for science, and one day embark on important careers in engineering, medicine or IT.
“Mobil has also been working with conservation groups to deliver community programs that support local animals and plants in wetland areas of the western suburbs,” he said.
Looking ahead to the holiday season, many members of the Mobil team along with local residents are busy making preparations for well-earned vacations. In doing so, holidaymakers are encouraged to prepare their vehicles if a road trip in on the agenda.
To ensure local residents can enjoy a safe and enjoyable holiday season, Mobil recommends drivers perform a thorough inspection of their vehicle before hitting the roads to ensure nothing is in need of repair, checking that tyres are properly inflated and services are up to date.
Yarraville Terminal Manager Andrew McCormack urged anyone who is planning a long drive to follow the road rules, take regular breaks and pull over at the first sign of drowsiness.
“The most important part of a holiday road-trip is arriving safely at your destination, so don’t take risks and be mindful of others on the road. A Merry Christmas is a safe Christmas,” said Andrew.
