Engineering school holiday fun

This autumn, ExxonMobil Australia is working with Scienceworks Museum in Spotswood to deliver educational, enjoyable and engineering-focused school holiday activities for children as part of its longstanding partnership with the museum.

This year, children of all ages will have the opportunity to play the part of an engineer with open-ended engineering play spaces that encourage children to design, build and test their way to making things move with air pistons.

Altona Refinery Community Relations Adviser Nikki Calcraft said supporting the school holiday program is a fantastic initiative for sparking an interest in engineering amongst young students.

“We have a long and proud association with Scienceworks Museum, who do a fantastic job of educating children in STEM practices in an engaging and hands-on manner.

“The partnership also gives our engineers an opportunity to spend time teaching the next generation of potential engineers about what they do and where a career in the field can take them,” said Nikki.

“Our program with ExxonMobil Australia will enable us to offer families a unique and practical school holiday experience which we hope will engender a lifelong love for science,” said Jonathan Shearer, General Manager of Scienceworks.

The Scienceworks school holiday program is running between Saturday 6 April and Monday 22 April.
