ExxonMobil Australia recognises the efforts of our local universities by supporting a variety of awards at the tertiary level. Each year, the company sponsors a variety of university awards across Victoria, South Australia and New South Wales to support science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education faculties.
One such example is RMIT University’s ExxonMobil Award for Excellence in Leadership, handed out annually by the School of Engineering. In 2019, the prize winners were named as Lucas Edward D'errico, Melissa Ann de Silva and Ewa Smolinska at a ceremony in May.
New Zealand Supply Planner and member of ExxonMobil Australia’s graduate recruitment team, Brigid Flynn, said the three RMIT winners were shortlisted based on academic performance, extracurricular involvement and work experience.
“RMIT has one of the largest engineering programs in the country, and continues to generate high quality candidates for our vacation and graduate programs. Many RMIT engineering graduates have gone on to have long and rewarding careers within the company.
“It’s fantastic that the university takes the time to recognise and celebrate the next generation of great Australian engineers, and that ExxonMobil Australia can be a part of that.
“I hope these awards represents a significant step towards a successful and rewarding career in engineering for the winners,” she said.
