ExxonMobil supports public art at Port Noarlunga

The project, an initiative of the Port Noarlunga Business and Tourism Association, aims to highlight environmental awareness in Port Noarlunga through the installation of a sculpture which incorporates imagery of a seascape with layered silhouettes of local marine species, including the Western Blue Groper.

A launch event was held at the local Surf Life Saving Club in June and was attended by local government representatives, as well local business owners, community groups, environmentalists and children from a local primary school. The children helped to officially unveil the artwork from the foreshore.

Mark Davey, Team Lead for ExxonMobil Environmental Services in Australia, represented the organisation at the launch event and said ExxonMobil was proud to donate more than $20,000 to this important community initiative.

“As a company, our commitment to environmental responsibility goes beyond compliance with regulatory requirements. We are pleased to actively contribute to a range of organisations and projects, such as this one, to highlight important environmental research, conservation and education initiatives.”

Mr Davey said ExxonMobil remains active and engaged with the local community here, even though the former Mobil Adelaide Refinery has been closed for many years. 

“We are still undertaking important demolition works to remove the wharf structure at the site and we are committed to achieving and maintaining excellence in environmental management throughout these works and our ongoing site remediation program,” he said.
