Men’s Shed visits Birkenhead Terminal

In December, an ExxonMobil Australia joint initiative with the Australian Men’s Shed Association (AMSA) provided Men’s Shed participants in South Australia with the opportunity to tour our ‘shed’, the Birkenhead Terminal, which helps meet the petrol, diesel and jet fuel needs of South Australia.

AMSA is the peak body supporting around 1000 Men’s Sheds and is recognised as one of Australia’s largest male-based community development organisations.

The tour was held as part of the series of ExxonMobil’s Men’s Shed Musters held throughout 2017. These events featured a line-up of motivational speakers, including from ExxonMobil’s leadership who shared some of our experience and learnings in managing safety across our operations.

Birkenhead Terminal Manager Wayne Forrow said the muster was a great opportunity to discuss the different areas of the terminal and our role in the South Australian fuel supply chain with the group from the Men’s Shed.

“Men’s Shed do very important work to improve health in the community and their work aligns with our broader emphasis on health and safety as an organisation.

“Getting involved with groups such as the Men’s Shed is very important to our ongoing efforts to foster strong relationships with the local community,” he said.
