Our employees lending a hand in their local community

As responsible corporate citizens, we believe we also have a vital role to play in making a positive impact on the communities in which we operate. We aim to achieve this objective via a range of ongoing initiatives such as school grants and visits, charitable donations, community events and sustainability projects.
At an individual level, many of our employees take this objective a step further and devote additional hours of their time to volunteer in their local community, an initiative we at Mobil support through our Volunteer Involvement Program, or VIP, Grants.
Mobil’s New Zealand Country Manager, Andrew McNaught said, “Mobil’s VIP Grants recognise and support our employees who go over and above in their volunteer support for community organisations.
“As part of the program, all Mobil employees in New Zealand have the opportunity to nominate the charity or community group with which they volunteer to receive a $1,000 grant. Eligible community groups may include local schools, kindergartens, cultural associations, and welfare and environmental groups.”
This year, thanks to eight special employees, who each volunteered for at least 20 hours at one the below organisations, we provided a $1000 VIP grant to:
- Liston College
- Long Bay Primary School
- Rolleston Rugby Football Club
- Roskill Amateur Swimming and Life Saving Club
- Saint Kentigern Boys' School
- Tawa Swimming Club
- Waitakere Cricket Club
- Discovery Kindergarten
That’s a total of at least 160 hours of volunteering in the community by our employees during the last year.
“I am so proud of the positive contribution that our employees are making to their own communities, and am pleased that Mobil is able to support and encourage their efforts,” said Andrew.
